FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1How fresh is the fish from White Panther?

Freshwater fish from Austria are caught only after the order is received and are then immediately prepared for cooking—either as whole, ready-to-cook fish or as D-trim fillets (with the belly section, including the inner fat layer and pelvic fins, as well as the dorsal fin completely removed).

2What are some ways to prepare brook char and lake char?

Whole char are excellent for grilling or baking in the oven. The fillets are actually a wonderful convenience product, since a quick sear in a pan makes for “quick” cooking.

3Are the fish farmed sustainably?

Our freshwater fish come from a sustainably managed fish farm in Rosental/Ferlach, Carinthia. They grow and thrive under optimal conditions.

4How long do the fish last?

The best-by date is indicated on the label, provided the product is kept at 0–4°C in its unopened packaging and the cold chain is maintained. Once the package has been opened, the fish and fillets must be consumed immediately.
